Atlanta Police Department Faces Federal Lawsuit Over Allegations of Ignoring Sexual Predators in Police Ranks

A Gwinnett County family has filed a federal lawsuit against the Atlanta Police Department, alleging that former Officer Anthony Anderson forced their teenage daughter to perform oral sex while driving her home after a car crash on August 2, 2023. The lawsuit claims a pattern of negligence and a culture of impunity within the department, citing multiple instances of sexual misconduct by officers and alleging that the department fails to adequately investigate civilian complaints. The family is seeking unspecified damages, including punitive and treble damages, asserting that the traumatic incident has permanently affected their daughter's life.
