Cherokee County Man Among Five Fatalities in New Year Holiday Crashes Across Georgia
A Cherokee County man was among five fatalities in separate crashes across Georgia during the New Year's holiday period, as reported by the Georgia Department of Public Safety. Phillip Ziegler, 62, of Canton, died after a tree fell on his vehicle on January 1, 2024, while traveling on Union Hill Road. In addition to Ziegler, a deadly crash occurred in DeKalb County, and a Bulloch County man, Chris Thompson, 48, was killed in a dirt bike accident on his property.
