Lilburn Man Charged with Murder in Roommate Death After Fourth of July Assault

A Lilburn man, Martin Montiel-Moreno, has been charged with murder following the death of his 21-year-old roommate, Jorge De La Cruz, who suffered severe head injuries during an assault on July 4. De La Cruz was found at their residence on Comanche Court and died two days later at Northside Hospital. Montiel-Moreno initially faced charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault, but additional warrants were issued for felony and malice murder after De La Cruz's death. The motive for the assault remains under investigation.
