Fire Displaces Residents in Southwest Atlanta Apartment Blaze

Firefighters were called to the Abby Ridge Apartments on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive around 6:30 a.m. and found heavy flames from the two-story building. The complex is located near the intersection with Boulder Park Drive, just east of I-285 and west of Lynhurst Drive. A large fire displaced several people in southwest Atlanta early Thursday. Reports indicate that there were several units affected by the smoke, but no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Residents were evacuated safely from the building. Fire officials are assessing the damage and working to determine the extent of the incident.
