Former Cobb County Detention Officer Charged with Assaulting 14-Year-Old at Youth Facility

Vanderia Britton, a former detention officer at the Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center in Cobb County, has been charged with first-degree cruelty to children following an alleged assault on a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which occurred on April 13, involved Britton striking the teen with a portable radio and punching her, resulting in injuries that required four stitches. Britton resigned from his position in April while under investigation and is currently being held in Cobb jail without bond.
