Georgia high school football coach arrested for assaulting players
On Tuesday, the Greensboro Police Department requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with an inquiry into Greene County High coach Darius Terrell Robinson. Robinson, 34, of Union Point, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple battery. The allegations involve him choking and hitting several of his players, as stated by the GBI on Thursday. In January, Robinson was appointed as the new head coach for Greene County, located about 75 miles east of Atlanta and 30 miles from Athens. His team, the Tigers, had a disappointing season, finishing with a record of 2-9 and losing in the first round of the playoffs to Early County. Once the investigation concludes, the case will be forwarded to the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. The GBI is urging anyone with information regarding the case to contact their Regional Investigative Office in Milledgeville. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via phone or online. Robinson, who previously served as the associate head coach at Valdosta High, is recognized for his leadership and development of student-athletes.
