McDonough Man Sentenced to Life for Killing DeKalb High School Football Star Trevon Richardson

Lavaniel Davis, 23, was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for the murder of 18-year-old Trevon Richardson, a Cedar Grove High School graduate, during a drug deal that escalated into an armed robbery on Memorial Day 2018. Davis was found guilty of three counts of felony murder in late August, while his co-defendant, Detavion McDay, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and received a 25-year sentence. Richardson's family and community mourned his loss, remembering him as a promising athlete with plans to play football at Valdosta State University.
