Northeast Georgia Sheriff Deputy Injured in Gun Struggle as Suspect Remains at Large

A northeast Georgia sheriff's deputy was shot during a struggle over his gun with a suspect who had been pulled over for driving a car without a license plate in Young Harris on October 20, 2023. The deputy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect, driving a silver Honda sedan, fled the scene and remains at large. The GBI is investigating the incident and is seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect.
