In April 2024, Jonathan Bates was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison for the death of his wife, Cynde Bates, in their Paulding County home on May 5, 2017. The couple's children witnessed the incident, during which Bates admitted to pushing Cynde, who later died from blunt force trauma to the head. After evading trial proceedings for nearly two years, Bates was arrested and faced multiple charges, ultimately resulting in his conviction and subsequent filing for a new trial.
