On Friday evening, severe storms hit the metro Atlanta area, causing heavy rain, strong winds, and hail, which significantly impacted operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. As of Saturday morning, 422 flights had been canceled, following 905 delays and 399 cancellations the previous day, with Delta Airlines anticipating further disruptions as they worked to inspect aircraft and reset operations. The storms also led to delays at Truist Park for an Atlanta Braves game and at EchoPark Speedway for a NASCAR Infinity race, with widespread severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings issued throughout the region.
