BRUNSWICK — Former Waycross District Attorney George E. Barnhill testified that he initially planned to present evidence regarding Ahmaud Arbery's killing to a Glynn County grand jury before ultimately recusing himself. Barnhill stated that he was surprised no arrests had been made by police when he arrived at the station and that he felt pressured to agree with their assessment of the shooting as justified. His testimony also highlighted the tension surrounding the case, including threats received by his family and the decision to remove themselves from the investigation due to public unrest.
