Three Dangerous Inmates Who Escaped DeKalb County Jail Back in Custody
Three inmates escaped from the DeKalb County jail early Monday, including one charged with murder and another previously convicted of it. The inmates were recaptured and are back in custody, according to the sheriff's office on Tuesday. Specific details regarding the escape, including whether they had assistance and their location when found, have not been disclosed. A news conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to provide further information. The inmates were discovered missing during a routine security check, leading to a search of the facility, as stated by DeKalb Sheriff Melody Maddox. Local law enforcement and federal investigators were involved in the search due to the dangerous nature of the inmates. The sheriff's office cautioned the public against approaching the three men, who are expected to face additional charges. Among the escapees is Yusuf Minor, who is serving a life sentence for a murder in Clayton County. Stevenson Charles, who has a prior conviction for armed carjacking in Florida, was the primary focus of the search. Naod Yohannes faces charges including simple assault and arson.
