A significant change in Atlanta's television landscape will occur this summer as CBS transitions from Channel 46 to Channel 69 after 31 years. Atlanta News First (WANF), formerly CBS46, will become an independent station effective August 15, allowing for expanded local news programming, while Channel 69 (WUPA) will take over as the new CBS affiliate starting August 16. This shift follows Gray Media's acquisition of WANF and Peachtree TV, which has led to increased investment and staffing at WANF to enhance its news offerings.
