Cobb County police Chief Stuart VanHoozer, after 35 years in law enforcement, announced his retirement effective at the end of April. VanHoozer, who began his career as a patrol officer in February 1990 and became chief in May 2022, expressed confidence in leaving the department in a strong position with improved crime rates and community trust. He plans to spend more time with family and assist in the family real estate business, while also indicating he may consider future opportunities in law enforcement.
