Teen Shot Dead at Prom After Party in Powder Springs Suspect Arrested for Murder
Carlos Diaz, 18, has been arrested and charged with murder following the shooting death of 17-year-old Ashton Hornsby at a house party in Powder Springs after prom on the weekend of April 15, 2023. Hornsby, a former student at Campbell High School, was shot twice in the chest after a confrontation with Diaz, who claimed he feared for his safety due to a previous incident. The Cobb County School District expressed its sorrow over the tragedy and announced that resources will be available to support students affected by the incident.
